Soduko is a logic based number placement puzzle game. The word soduko is Japanese and is an abbreviation of the phrase "the digits must remain single".

The first soduko puzzle was published in 1979, however the game has seen a massive increase in popularity since early 2005 with puzzles appearing in a number of British newspapers.

The game is very simple to play and requires only logic to complete. The puzzle is made from a 9x9 grid made up of 3x3 sub-grids, which are called regions. The puzzle starts with various digits already in the grid. The remaining empty grid squares should then be filled in so that every row, every column, and every region contains the digits 1 through 9. Each number in the solution therefore occurs only once in each column and row and also within each 3x3 sub-grid.
